overview
A site location was given in Phoenix, Arizona, this one being located on Roosevelt and 7th Ave, a few blocks south of the 10 freeway and close to Grand Ave, a historic arts district, and a multitude of local shops and restaurants.
Site info and background
Size of site was 1.4 acres, which is about 60,000 sqft. Inspiration from Historic District neighborhood on 6th Ave is being taken for materials on housing unit. Multiple houses use brick and stucco as materials, therefore my partner and I decided to use similar materials as well.
BEGINNING Phase
In the beginning phase of this housing project, my peer Jeramy Widener and I wanted this to be a space for business as well as residential. A courtyard is located in the middle of the building which can be used for activities as well for residents to access their apartments for a more "private" feel due to location of 7th Ave in Phoenix being an eventful street.
Moving Forward
After reevaluating, we came to the conclusion of having a more pieced and exposed appearance. With these individual pieces there tends to be more freedom and individuality, meaning that whole "block" is your own unit. You would only share one party wall.
FLOOR one
Floor one consists of the pool on the bottom left, the leasing office located on the bottom middle, adjacent is the gym and on the bottom right is the local cafe for residents. The top left and right consists of two, two bedroom apartments, the top middle is two one bedroom apartments. There is also an elevator located at the top.
floor two
Floor two consists of two variations of a two bedroom unit. 2 Bed 2 Bath A (26x32 or 832 sqft) and 2 Bed 2 Bath B (30x28 or 840 sqft).
floor three
Floor three consists of two variations of a one bedroom unit. 1 Bed 1 Bath A (24x30 or 720 sqft) and 1 Bed 1 Bath B (24x27 or 648 sqft).
floor four
Floor four consists of two variations of a studio apartment unit. Studio A (23x27.5 or 632.5 sqft) or Studio B (23x28 or 644 sqft).
